The 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will start today, Monday, October 17, 2022, and end on October 21, 2022 for schools and privately enrolled applicants.
This will be the first time both school-based and private students would take the tests at the same time, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) stated in a statement announcing the exam date.
According to the Council, this is because "the BECE for Private Candidates has routinely had minimal entries throughout the years."
A total of 1,132 private applicants have enrolled for the tests and will take the papers at 15 chosen centers, while a total of 552,276 candidates from 18,501 schools throughout the country will take the exams for school candidates at 2,023 centers.
The exam will be administered at 15 chosen centers in the regional capitals, according to WAEC.
According to the report, there were 6.09 percent more candidates enrolled for the BECE in 2022 than there were in 2021 (1067).
The Council gave the public the reassurance that all necessary safeguards had been put in place to ensure test security and the smooth operation of the examination.
