| The globe is "conquered" by Black Sherif's Soja new song release |
Less than a year after the release of the global hit Kwaku the Traveller, fast-rising Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif has produced another hot song, Soja, and social media is a-buzz.
He clearly seized the moment and quickly accelerated his current trend to release his new track Soja, which is quickly becoming a global anthem. He is the only Ghanaian artist to enter the Boomplay Golden Club and is presently a BET nominee.
The three-minute song, which details the young rapper's upbringing, hardships, and sudden climb to fame—something he hasn't yet learned to accept—tells of his success.
He represents a part of himself in the song that has been mentally reinforced as he uses a catchy rhythmic pattern to express his frailty and the need to set aside insecurities.
He doesn't veer too far from the genre of music and lyrics that he usually sings and writes, but he does give the listener a real-life look into his life and how he chooses to battle worries in order to succeed in the world.
In the song, Blacko, as he is affectionately known, says: "My mysterious box is somewhere very near." I can feel it inside of me, and it's quite strange. I'm looking for something. Years ago, during that time. How far could I go if you told me I would see this flag waving? I wouldn't trust you. What was my limit? I can sense it because I'm too close. Something inside of me is vibrating. I'm having a party. But they kill me outdoors.
Soja has gotten positive reviews; as of yesterday, September 28, press time, it has reached its highest position of number one on the Apple Music Top 100 Ghana Chart and was now ranked number 14 on the Apple Music Top 100 Nigeria Chart.
It has also successfully surpassed international songs like Stonebwoy's Gidigba, Piesie Esther's Way Me Yie, Lie by Kizz Daniel, and others to reach the 68th spot on the Boomplay Top 100 Africa Chart.
Additionally, the song entered Boomplay's Top 100 Ghana chart with a remarkable haste, achieving the 17th slot while outperforming tracks that had previously spent more time there.
Soja is the top-trending artist for music on YouTube, with the official visualiser having received over 1.5 million views.
