As a result of his suspected involvement in illicit mining, Yaw Danso, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, has been suspended.
The suspension will give time for an inquiry into the claims, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development stated in a letter.
The Chief Executive was mentioned in audio that was circulating as engaging in illicit mining.
President Akufo-Addo was already requested to check into the claims by some members of his Assembly.
At a special meeting with MMDCEs last week, President Akufo-Addo mentioned that Mr. Danso had been invited to defend himself against the allegations.
Following an attempt by some of his assembly members to cast a vote of no confidence against him, the Bosome Freho DCE became the center of controversy.
The assembly members charged Mr. Danso with stoking dissension among them and withholding funds intended for their work.
